Swapr (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app for trading second-hand items with people near you, operated by Swaprlab. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions: support@swaprlab.com.
Information we collect
- Account — email address, password (stored only as a salted hash), and display name.
- Profile — optional profile photo, your approximate location used to find nearby trades, search radius, and language/currency preferences.
- Phone number — only if you choose to verify your phone for added trust; used to send a one-time code.
- Listings — items you post: title, description, photos, condition, estimated value range, and item location.
- Activity — swipes, matches, chat messages, ratings/reviews, reports, and blocks.
- Device — a push-notification token for the devices you sign in on.
- Technical logs — basic request metadata (endpoint, status, timing) and error diagnostics to keep the service running. We use no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
How we use it
- Provide the core service: show nearby items, create matches, and enable chat.
- Trust & safety: ratings, reporting, optional phone verification, and moderation.
- Send notifications you’ve enabled (matches, messages, announcements).
- Operate, secure, debug, and improve the app.
What other users can see
Your display name, profile photo, and reputation (trade count, rating) are visible to other traders. Items you list appear in discovery. Once you match, you and the other person can exchange messages. We show only your approximate distance to others — never your exact coordinates.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run the app:
- MongoDB Atlas — database hosting.
- Cloudflare R2 — storage and delivery of item/profile images.
- Expo & Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering push notifications.
- An SMS provider — sending phone-verification codes (only if you verify a phone number).
- Hetzner — server hosting.
We do not sell your personal data.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account), which permanently removes your profile, items, swipes, matches, messages, ratings, reports, and blocks. You can also request deletion by email — see Account & data deletion.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your information using the in-app controls or by contacting support@swaprlab.com.
Children
Swapr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change and revise the “last updated” date above.
